Issue 5 of Wegway, the magazine of artists' projects, had atrocious and funny comics by Montreal's Sherwin Tjia that relied on the denial of drawing to deliver graphic interest. New York artist Robert Lederman documented his victorious battle with Rudolph Giuliani, illustrated with sardonic portraits of the mayor. Randall Packer sent a message from the faux US Department of Art and Technology on ways to prevent war. Artists Anonymous, a collective from Calgary, asked artists to give up making art for their own good. Seak Mac, an Argentinean graffiti artist living in Ottawa, showed some of his work done on rail cars. Toronto writer and critic Gary Michael Dault offered a meditation on having a name. Kenji Siratori, a self-styled hypermodern writer from Sapporo, Japan, published an excerpt from Blood Electric. Painter/writer Ron Martin presented a chapter from The Report, his Swiftian science fiction novel about the art world. Hendrik Mallmann from Germany explained, and showed the results from, his pinhole camera made of macaroni. Don Bonham, part of the London, Ontario scene in the 60s and 70s, told what it was like to be an American in Canada who was not a draft dodger. Susan Gold shared work from the international mail-art project she coordinated. Javier Tellez published an open letter explaining why he had withdrawn from the next Venice Biennial. Plus lots more.
